SAT Telecommunications is a registered company under the Company's Act of the Commonwealth of Dominica. SAT was founded in July of 1999. In December of 1999 SAT was awarded a license in Cable TV & Broadcasting. In 2003, SAT received from the O.E.C.S regulatory board a Fixed Public Telecommunications Network License, Value added services, fixed and wireless internet license, giving SAT licenses that cover the complete spectrum of Telecommunication services with the exception of cellular services. Under the fiscal incentive act for development, in 2003 SAT was given a 15 year tax free break on earnings, and duty free on all materials and equipment needed to build and operate the Company. SAT is located in the heart of Roseau which is the Capital. The Company is bounded by the Central Police Station, Fire Station, Government Headquarters, Financial Centre and the newly built Sports Stadium, which bounds behind SAT’s Central Communications Centre. SAT is a Broadband, Telecommunications and Broadcasting Company supplying services, for example, Cable TV, Internet, V.O.I.P, fiber Network rentals and other Telecommunication value added services.

 

SAT has built the largest fibre optic network on Dominica and perhaps due to the geography of the island the largest in the Caribbean. SAT’s network is the only network on island that has a total ring all round the island giving total redundancy. SAT provides its fibre optic services to companies such as AT&T, Cingular, Orange, Digicel and many local businesses; SAT Telecommunications Ltd network has entered into all the rural areas of Dominica, more than fifty villages which never had any form of television service before now have the advantage of broadband technology. SAT has also set up a state of the art V SAT station, having a direct link to the Satellites network such as Panam Sat and Intel Sat. SAT has jest connected to a new fibre optic undersea cable giving SAT a direct international links into the Internet backbone in Miami. SAT is in the process of deploying its internet services. This service will comprise of the SBV 5120. This is the newest in Motorola’s docsis cable modem, which uses the packet cable infrastructure for V.O.I.P. which is now becoming the leading industry’s standard. SAT has just invested heavily into state of the art router from Cisco giving us bandwidth management in order to deploy our new undersea link around the island in order to serve our many business customers including the Ross University which has close to 1500 American students. Presently we are installing sub-stations throughout the island for more effective management, as some of our clients e.g. Orange and Digicel depend heavily on SAT’s network which links their cell sites together. If SAT goes down, they go down. SAT’s network is slowly becoming the backbone here in Dominica for a number of businesses. SAT bring to its customer the latest in cricket, football and other sporting events we bring you local news, culture events and talk shows, we also bring you programming from the Caribbean region, we carry US Based programs and a number of other foreign channels such as Venezuela, Cuban, Arabic and German.
